I have a EoTech red dot sight on my AR now I sighted it in at 25meters which is the recommended distance because the bullet will hit in the same place at 25 meters as 300 meters, now I can hit a target pretty much dead on at 25 meters and maybe .5-3/4 moa at 50 yards so im pretty good at 50 yards as well. Will my rifle hit a target at 300 meters?

Actually your assessment is in error.

On normal M16 sights, you sight the weapon in at 25 meters, but then zero it to 300 meters. However, in between these two steps, you first adjust the rear sight aperture 1 click past the "3/8" mark on the elevation knob. Once it is sighted in at 25 meters, you then rotate it until the "3/8" mark is aligned again.

This is not possible to do in an EO Tech sight and if you sight in a weapon at 25 meters, it will shoot high at 300 meters.

I got an eotech for christmas and when I turn it on it is fuzzy.

Hmm, did you try it on its lowest levels of intensity? You might want to look at some EOTech vids on YouTube if this is the first one you have ever shot through, the aren’t exactly laser etched. They are crude reliable CQB sights, I have never sen one that I would consider "crisp." They have that grainy laser look. But if you aren’t happy with it, or if there is something wrong they are great about standing by their product, so send it in if you aren’t happy with it. Good Luck.

I have a Eotech red dot and a 3x mag on my rifle I am shooting dead on hits at 25 meters (81 feet) and also shooting .5-1 inch spreads at 152 feet…. Is this ideal shooting for a M4 type AR with a red dot? Should I set my rifle for closer shooting? At 30 feet it shoots a little down I know this is normal but is my rifle set for standards?

Most AR-15s will be accurate out to around 600yards. Where you have yours sighted in should be based on what you plan to do with it. For a general self defense rifle having it sighted in at 100-150 yards will get you good results since the bullet’s trajectory is still very flat, it shouldn’t range more than 3-4inches up or down from 0 to 200 yards. I don’t have the actual ballistics info in front of me though, so maybe someone else will have an exact answer for you.

I have a 16" barrel so its not exactly good for long distance but I’ve never taken a coyote from more than 300m.

This would work very well. But I would propose a very long practice routine before attempting to hunt predators with a reflex. You need to be good enouh to drop them in one,otherwise you’ll drop it and run.

i have an ak with ultimak gas tube mount. I just purchased an eotech 512. Ive heard several rumors that the mount will get to hot and fry the eotech have any of you had experience with this setup or has it ever happened to you. I contacted ultimak and they say they have never been contacted about it or heard of an instance. It just took awhile to get the free money to buy the eotech i would be so mad if i accidentally fried it. any information is appreciated, and thank you for your help
