I am thinking about buying a 120GB PlayStation 3 Console. I just wanted to know if anyone recommended any accessories, I have heard stories about consoles overheating and I was wondering if buying one of those fans for a PS3 is really going to be necessary. I really like to go cheap, but at the same time I don’t want to be paying for any repairs or/and buying all these batteries every week or so.

i defo suggest getting a fan, just as a precaution – some of my friends ps3s have broken due to over heating and i have an old 60gb fat ps3 and i bought the fan straight away and it has never turned off due to the heat (and i have loads of equipment in there – my sky box over heats constantly like every 2 days, i have replaced it but it just keeps happening). here are some fans that clip onto your ps3 and you plug them into a usb port. you can get them in GAME, ebay, etc.

also make sure there is plenty of room next to the side vent too.

do NOT get the nyko fan – that breaks your ps3

just make sure your ps3 has at least 3 inches of space around it (especially the back and side because that’s where the vents are) and clean the dust off with a micro fibre cloth – they don’t scratch and also, with a vacuum, clean the vents out too (but make sure it’s not too powerful)

a second controller you probably need.

maybe a headset if you want to play online but its really not a must, this was probably the lowest on my list of accessories and sometimes i don’t use it:

they all vary in price but these are the best i think. the turtle one’s are way expensive so i don’t suggest them for you.

if you want to transfer music, pictures or even game saves, most usb/memory sticks are compatible.

and finally! i have wireless in my house and i could hardly connect to the internet (the router was on a different floor and on the opposite side of the house so i got these to boost the signal. from 30% – 80%! it may be expensive but well worth it – you may not even need it though…)

ignor the bloke talking abou ir recivers and cooling fans ps3s NEVER overheat unless you make them i.e. putting them next to a heater and ps3 remote controlls are perfect and are good to use and you don’t need to point them at the ps3 as they are bluetooth so don’t listen to him it is just a waste of money

Hey guys i just got a brand new PS3 slim 120 GB and i need some recommendations on what i should get with it. For example things like hdmi cable (does the brand or length matter?) and what games are the best and all that. Im into shooter games mainly, i love call of duty MW2 and i would like to hear what other stuff you guys think i should get. thanks!

If you have an HDTV then an HDMI would be a good idea to have, it does not matter too much on the brand of HDMI cable and many stores will rip you off on them by charging at least £15 for them. You can get good HDMI cables online for far less (i got one from Amazon for about £5)

you can also buy a good headset for chatting online and possibly a bigger hard drive if you need it in the future (3.5 inch SATA hard disks that you get in laptops are what the PS3 uses)

I want to get some accessories for my ps3, like a couple controllers and a headset. But if I just go to the store and buy this it would cost over $150, since it is like $50 a piece for all of that. Are there any websites that i can order off of to get this stuff for a cheaper price?

Controllers are expensive, sure, but they last the life of the console. If you want cheaper ones, get another brand, like MadCatz, or get used ones.

Headsets for $50? Get a cheaper headset. You can get a $20 one and it’d work just fine. My bluetooth i have for my phone was only $30 and it works for PS3.

And who pays $60 for games?? Find sales, buy when they’re a Greatest Hit, or buy used. I’ve got 5 games (not counting DLC games) and they only cost me $135 total.
